Brand with Diversity Empowered by Design | Vice President ZHAO Chao Attended the Qingdao Design Festival 2023 and Delivered a Keynote Speech
On November 29, the Qingdao Design Festival 2023 kicked off at the Qingdao International Convention and Exhibition Center. The 2023 Seventh "Mayor's Cup" Qingdao Industrial Design Grand Prix, the 2023 Qingdao Industrial Design Conference, the 2023 Qingdao Industrial Design Innovation Achievement Exhibition, and the Industrial Internet Empowered Qingdao Industrial Design Interview were held simultaneously. With the theme of "Brand with Diversity Empowered by Design", this year's Qingdao Design Festival was hosted by the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, organized by the Qingdao Daily Press Group, and co-organized by the Qingdao Industrial Design Association and the Tsinghua (Qingdao) Academy of Arts and Science Innovation Research (TASA). ZHAO Chao, Vice President of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University and Vice President of TASA, attended the event and delivered a wonderful keynote speech titled Design Innovation Drives Industrial Upgrading. TASA has provided first-class professional resource support for the Qingdao Design Festival 2023, which ensured that the event was held at a high level and reflected the dynamic development of Qingdao's design industry.
In his speech, Vice President ZHAO Chao talked about the deep integration of art and science, and culture and technology. He said that design should be used to solve the interrelationship between people and technology and to construct experience. Designers should be capable of managing projects, giving full play to the characteristics of integrated innovation in design disciplines, carrying out collaborative innovation across disciplines and fields, and building multi-user networks to create a valuable artificial world.
Vice President ZHAO Chao introduced that the Qingdao Municipal People's Government, Tsinghua University, and the Qingdao West Coast New Area Administrative Committee have established TASA - a design-driven research institute that integrates art and science - in the Qingdao West Coast New Area. TASA has established six innovative industrial sectors: future travel, future life, future fashion, future health and welfare, future learning and R&D, and cultural sustainability. With the needs of enterprises in mind, it helps Qingdao enterprises carry out technology design, product and service transformation, and explore future technology application scenarios.
